The Green Key Certification Audit
Independent verification of your facility's compliance with Green Key sustainability criteria.
The audit verifies compliance with Green Key criteria through visual inspection and document review, and provides guidance on good practices. It is conducted by accredited external auditors.
The Green Key certificate is valid for 24 months. An audit is conducted at each application and renewal.
External auditors conduct audits every two years, in line with the certification cycle. Annual documentation reporting is required between audits.
In non-audit years the facility submits updated documentation, sustainability targets and a compliance confirmation before the certificate expiry date.
The audit process covers the following stages:
Opening meeting and discussion of criteria
Facility walkthrough: guest rooms, kitchen, dining area, waste storage areas
Review of documentation and supporting evidence
Brief closing summary with the auditor (no final decision issued on site)
Written report prepared by the auditor following the visit
After the audit
No corrective actions — the certificate is awarded.
